About Tocotrienols

Tocotrienols complex is a fractionated and concentrated extract of either palm oil or rice bran oil. Tocotrienols are naturally occurring lipid-soluble isomers of Vitamin E. There are 8 naturally occurring isomers of Vitamin E (4 tocopherols and 4 tocotrienols). Tocotrienols have 40-60 times higher antioxidant potency than alpha-tocopherol.

Tocotrienols differ from tocopherols in that they have an isoprenoid (polyunsaturated) instead of a phytyl (saturated) side chain. This unsaturated side chain(or tail) contains three double bonds, which enables tocotrienols to be distributed more efficiently in the lipophilic cell membrane bi-layer. This distribution facilitates tocotrienols antioxidant properties more efficiently against free radical attack.
